There is nothing wild about this limited edition Omega watch, and frankly that is the way I like my Omega limited edition watches. Nothing too avant garde, just a good sober looking timepiece with a nice theme. Omega is pretty much obligated to release limited edition watches for the Olympics. First, they are the official timekeeper for the Olympics (since 1932). Wouldn't it look silly if they didn't celebrate that fact every two years? Second, it is pretty much the type of marketing occasion you'd be an idiot to miss out on. For the 2008 Summer Olympics they released this really cool limited edition Speedmaster based watch, for 2010 it is back to the Seamaster for inspiration. The result is something impressively on par with the visuals in my mind when I think of the winter Olympics.

For The Billionaire Tycoon In Us All, There Is The Kunstwinder Industrial Collection Oil Barron Two Watch Winder Luxury Items I was walking by Jewelry store at night gazing in the window to see if they had any interesting watches. Sometimes you get lucky and they don't store them away for the night. I did see a few empty watch displays to my chagrin. But then, I saw something I'd never seen before. It was an amazing looking watch winder made to look like an oil derrick. Two fittings for watches were placed, one of each side. They spun around on an axis as the gold plated oil derrick model operated to pump adrenaline from my body forcing me to utter "coooool, I so want one." Too bad they were closed, or that might have happened in a moment of temporary consumer craziness. I had to learn more about these novel watch winders, only knowing that the company who makes them is Kunstwinder, and the name of this splendid watch lover was the Industrial Collection Oil Barron. To my knowledge there aren't any other watches winders that Kunstwinder makes, and the Oil Barron is the only piece in the Industrial Collection.

Women’s Girard Perregaux ww.tc 24 Hour Shopping Watch Named Most Beautiful Watch By The Prix Officiel de la Revue des Montres 2008: Husbands Everywhere Weep

You know Woot.com right? It's the popular deal-a-day website which offers just one very good deal a day. If you miss it, there is no going back. Well, countless Woot.com competitors have popped up, often focusing on some market niche. Here though, is the watch version, and it is very well done. ChronoShark.com (just launched in December 2008) is the place to go for a super daily watch deal. It was started by the people who do DiamondShark.com (I am sure you can guess the idea is there too).

MCT Sequential One Watch + Video

MCT Sequential One Watch + Video

The classic-looking timekeeper comes in gray gold,  red gold,  platinum. All pretty price metals. If you ask me, the gray gold looks pretty nice (similar to white gold, only more gray...duh). There are two choices for the dial which are a geometrical silver-plated or black galvanic dial with fine-brushed sun decoration. The alligator strap is pretty dashing in a honey brown color, but is also available in a darker chocolate brown or black tone. Inside the watch is an automatic calibre PK 2001-1520 movement. Probably a based ETA movement with a retrograde modification for the seconds dial, and 42 hours of power reserve. The case itself is 41mm wide, but that is rather large for a square case, which is good! Of course it has a sapphire crystal It is only water resistant to 30 meters, but this really isn't much of a sports watch. I like the simple head nod to both art deco and Belle Epoque styles here, without over doing it. It is a fine example of artistic watch perfection from Pierre Kunz who is known well for such model types.

So Lexus loving Americans are brand snobs. Here is a very high-end Seiko, from the "Grand Seiko" line. Stare at the pristine simplicity to realize how ergonomically perfect this watch is. The Grand Seiko Spring Drive model SBGC0001 includes a chronograph, date, GMT hand, and power reserve, as well as the time. It also has the now legendary Seiko Spring Drive 9R86 movement with a column wheel 12 hour chronograph! The quality of this watch as well as the finish is the best that Japan can do, which is pretty good. This isn't supposed to be a mimicry of European watches, but rather something a bit different. You aren't going to get the fashionista vibe from this watch. Rather, you'll get something that is made to be super easy to live with. The layout of the dials makes it extremely clear to read the information, especially for the chronograph. The faceted hands and indicators as so well done and hand polished. This watch just oozes cool and quality to me.

Retailing at over 00, a used one is available on eBay right now starting very cheap. It will likely go for a few hundred dollars, though it will still certainly be a good value. This is a classic, and one of the finest all mechanical Seiko watches. More recent MarineMaster watches use Seiko Kinetic Direct Drive, or Spring Drive movements, not automatic mechanical movements (though the Seiko Prospex SBDB001 does have a newer GMT mechanical movement and costs over ,000). Check out this nice find.

I am glad that Frederique Constant chose a real driver's car that impacted the lives of many, instead of some elusive super car that only a handful of people have actually driven. For the many collectors who own a restored Austin Healey, this will make an excellent companion, and serve as a nice reminder for those who used to have one.

Audemars Piguet Millenary Chronograph Watch At SIHH 2009 Shows & Events The case is in 18kt rose gold and measures 47mm x 42mm, pretty nicely sized! Inside, the mechanical movement is the automatic AP caliber 2385 with a power reserve of 40 hours (not exactly a stellar power reserve, but it is a chronograph movement). Sky blue is found throughout the dial as well as gold used for the out markers and the hands. It is a pretty bold little number, and a charming edition to something from Audemars Piguet that is not a Royal Oak watch. If you look on the rear of the watch, the branding reminds me too much of those fish you sometimes see attached to the back of people's cars. I think you know what I mean.

Tissot recently announced the Sea-Touch line, which will be a more diver friendly line of T-Touch watches. Early concepts of this watch also bore the name Atlan-T, so we will have to see what name Tissot ends up going with (probably Sea-Touch). The styling of the Sea-Touch is wildly different than the futuristic compass like looks of the standard T-Touch line, there is also some different functionality. Swatch took the ETA E48.351 movement of the Tissot T-Touch Expert and modified it to make the ETA E48.301 for the Sea-Touch. The main difference being the removal of the barometer and altimeter, and replacing it with a underwater depth gauge and diving log meter. The new features will indicate three pieces of information useful to a diver including, instant depth, dive duration and a variometer indicating the speed of descent and resurfacing. Good stuff to have, but perhaps not as useful if you don't plan on diving too often.

In a nutshell, the device is a folding phone that fits on a wrist strap. When the phone is folded, a smaller anterior screen displays the time. To use the phone, the wear slips out the phone and unfolds it. A concern immediately appears, but I think is easily dismissed. You can surmise that because the phone separates from the wrist strap, they can easily become lost from one another. However, mobile phones aren't typically latched to anything anyways, so these phones could be just as easy to lose as any other. Second, if you lost the wrist strap, it doesn't look like something that would be too expensive to replace anyway. Thus, I don't think there is too much of a risk of loss, and there must be some way of securing the phone into the wrist strap harness. No big deal there.

Here are some early images of the upcoming Tissot Sea-Touch, also known as the Tissot Atlan-T. No matter the name, it will be the next version of the very popular T-Touch line of tactile operation watches from Swatch Group's own Tissot brand. In 2000 when the T-Touch line up came out  I was instantly in love with the line. The techie good looks reminded me of a Swiss G-Shock style timepiece. What is so cool about the watch is the touch screen interface. You activate the touch receptive sapphire crystal and then tap the area's function you wish. The readout is a combination of analog hands and a small LCD screen. I never got one of the original Tissot T-Touch watches, or the Navigator, or the Trekking, but I did eventually get a Tissot T-Touch Expert, which is their latest and greatest model  with an updated movement that has more functionality and a slightly larger screen. Look for a detailed Tissot T-Touch Expert watch review on aBlogtoRead.com soon.

Two Engraved Skeletonized Beauties: The Patek Philippe 'Art Piece" 5180/1 And The IWC Portuguese Tourbillon Mystère Squelette Watches Feature Articles This is not going to be one of those articles that is seeped in watch movement technicalities. This is going to be about the visual appreciation of thorough watch decoration. Sometime you want a watch that is just stunning to look at. You gaze deeply in its rich complexity noticing minute details bearing the attention of the engraving tools, and you consider again, that luxury has a face.

When a company says it has been around for a long time, it usually means that it purchased the rights to the name of a company that was around a while ago, went out of business, and is now miraculously back thanks to some enterprising investors. This is totally fine, but I love how they completely skirt around the issue. What is amusing is how much this issue is pressed. History is cool, and it is true that most watch technology is about 100 years old for the most part. However, you don't need to stress that you made your first watch when Abraham Lincoln was still wearing wooden diapers. I am satisfied with the fact that you have attractive, well made watches that are based on a tried and true styles and methods, or a well thought out modern approach.

The price for the non-Limited Edition RGM North Pointer Professional GMT watch is ,950. Pretty decent price for the quality of this watch. I have a feeling in the future there will be a level of collectibleness, but never buy any watch because you think it is a good investment. That occurs only rarely. This is an emotional and functional purchase. www.rgmwatches.com

As opposed to the legacy "Fifty Fathoms" name (which is only about 90 meters deep), today's Fifty Fathom watches are resistant of at least up to 300 meters. Size is nice and big with the case being 45mm wide. Everything about the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is absolutely superb in terms of materials used and quality, as it should be for a watch in the ,000 range. The new white model is named the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Automatique. Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense as all the watches are automatics. And what automatics they are. The in-house Blancpain movements are extremely accurate as mentioned before, and have a 5 day power reserve! Now that is impressive for such a hardy watch.  There are several black models in the mix, but the new stealth edition takes my pick as the most stylish.

Choosing the Protocole as the base for this highly Limited Edition watches (12 total, three of each in each metal) was a good idea for Piaget as it allowed for a large surface area as well as relatively flat surfaces for painting. The inclusion of the sapphire crystal does not inhibit the view in any detrimental manner either. Lastly, the ultra thin hands are functional, but don't distract from the painted scenes. So overall a nice job by Piaget.

The proliferation of the ubiquitous mobile phone has for some people, rendered the need for a wrist watch unnecessary. They indicate that the ability to see what time it is on their phone means they don't need a watch. While it is true that phones have clocks on them, they are by no means a replacement to the wrist watch. Regardless, legions of people will ask, "why do I need a watch when I have a phone?" Whether or not you fall into this category, you'll appreciate that it signals a return to the pocket watch mentality.

So the subject of this discussion is the Professional 105GMT Gold Discovery phone from Russian based luxury phone maker Mobiado. Funny enough, I hear that their phones aren't even sold in Russia. Further, I have no idea exactly what is supposed to be professional about this? Mobiado seems to have a mission to take a bunch of fancy materials and make a phone out of them. While they have succeeded in this, the sum of the parts is seemingly cheaper than the parts individually. So I'll talk about the good aspects of the phone first; the bad aspects should be obvious.

I am in Germany maybe 10 minutes and the signs of watch insanity are in my face. On my 4 hour layover in Munich to Dresden I am surprised to see that Munich's domestic terminal is basically one big watch store. There is a huge open watch store in the middle with tons of rare brands, and those that you don't even see in America at all, such as Certina and Union Glashutte. There is certainly an air of haute horology already. The first picture is of a magazine and gift store display. They actually highlight their collection of watch magazines! This is just too much good stuff, and I am on my way to being prepared for A. Lange & Sohne's upcoming spectacular display.

Though I have mentioned Temption Cherubin watches before, I've never featured the Cherubin GDA model. Another limited edition (500 pieces) Cherubin model. This is likely to be one of the most sophisticated Cherubin watches, and this model is beautiful with its red trimmed parts. The watch also comes in different trims including blue, green, and a few others I believe. The Cherubin watches are at the top of the German Temption's line-up. Highly stylized watches that clearly retain class and dignity without succumbing to any fleeting appeal of avant garde design. Basically I am saying that while there are no other watches out there that resemble the Temption Cherubin GDA, but nevertheless the Cherubin fits in nicely with other high-end watches and has lasting appeal.

See the M3 and other watches direct at LUM-TEC here.

There is something organic about the seemingly industrial montage of lines and materials used in Sarpaneva watches. The Korona features 4 layers in the face, which need to be painstakingly hand sculpted for each watch. The materials on the face are mostly steel, but there is also the rose gold moon (on some models) and "diamond coated black" finishing on some of the steel. There are actually a lot of customization options here for interested parties, and various finish combinations can be ordered. First you have to like the watch itself, then you can nitpick over the small details with the watch makers.
